Recent Buy! Pizza Pizza

A recent stock purchase of mine, I added to my previous 140 shares of Pizza Pizza Royalty Corp with an additional 115 shares. At the time of purchase the shares were trading at $15.82, and as of writing on August 28th, 2017 at $16.36. (yay) The stock pays a consistently growing monthly dividend of $0.0713, which was a dividend yield of about 5.4% at the time of purchase. And adds $8.2 monthly and $98.4 annually. I am definitely happy to be getting a slice of that pizza pie!

Next Buy Watchlist: April 2016

While I have been rather busy lately with some recent buys, mainly building up and cost averaging down my position in Manulife Financial, not once, but twice! Adding to Pembina Pipeline as well, as my most recent buy in TD Bank. I have been buying stocks and building up my portfolio while neglecting to post about those stocks which are on my radar. Sometimes it is due to seeing an opportunity crop up and I go for it, or being just a bit too busy to post, or not having any particular stock in mind.

This time around since my last buy of TD I have a definite purpose for my next buy. My holdings in the Financial sector, and oil related companies has become more heavily concentrated than I would like. In part due to buying more of those stocks as they sank in value, and have now rebounded a bit resulting in their further weighting in my portfolio.

September 2015: Dividend Update!

September is one of my quieter dividend months, but just like every other month the dividends come in nice and steady with no effort or early mornings on my part! Every third month of a quarter is my lightest month, with the monthly distributions forming the base of the income, with a helping hand from Suncor. I am also very excited that for the first time this year, the on average lowest paying month just exceeded the highest single month of dividend income that I received in October 2014, just short of a full year ago!

Next Buy Watchlist: June 2015

Monday's news items made for an interesting day to put up a watchlist. With the current market fallout of Greece's potential missing of its IMF repayment date and the looming possibility of its unprecedented retreat from the European Union stock markets have taken a hit. I have been closing in on the stocks that I want to get, but with these events I am glad to have been taking my time. I am also going to be waiting on the result of tomorrow Bank of Canada report on the Canadian economy, as that could also affect financial companies. Now, while preparing and researching for my next addition to my portfolio I have had a few objectives in mind.

Recent Buy: Last Buys of March

Before and after I went away on vacation I deployed a fair sum of capital that become available to me. Having already posted my recent buys that month of AQN and RY, there is still the additional shares of Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS), BCE inc (BCE) and Pizza Pizza (PZA) to my portfolio that month. It was a very busy month of portfolio building, which is reflected quite clearly in my last Portfolio Update, with a 103% increase in value!
Leading up to these buys required quite a bit of time going over each companies available financial information, news releases and comparing the cost and benefits of each relative to each other. As well as comparing the portfolio weighting of each of the companies that were on my watchlist, as well as the impact of adding different amounts of each would have on my overall sector weightings as well.

August 2014 Dividend Update!

The month of August is coming to an end and sadly the last week of summer vacation before many of you or your kids go back to school. The days have started getting a bit shorter and its not quite as warm as it used to be, or at least in Toronto... BUT! The companies in which I have shares of have kept on working just as hard as before, if not harder with some of them having raised their dividends recently. And so here is my dividends for the month of August, where these great companies have once again paid me for enjoying my summer!

This month I received a total of $36.94 in dividends, which is -$20.32 from last months due to fewer quarterly dividends being paid out this month, but it is still a whooping $36.77 more than I got last August where all I had were a few hundred in a dividend mutual fund. Already this year I have received a total of $223.75 in dividends, that's roughly 22 hours of minimum wage work I did not have to do!

July 2014 Dividend Update!

So the month of July has pretty much just finished and so I've received another months worth of awesome dividends and distributions from the companies I hold. Hopefully you've all received some good ones as well! This month has been my best month thus far with a grand total of $57.26 in passive income! That's roughly 5 hours of minimum wage work that I didn't have to do this month! :)
