Manulife Financial $MFC just completed reporting its earnings; reporting an increase in net earnings of 16.7% for the year! With that, they announced a great dividend increase of 12%, going from 25cents a quarter to 28cents per quarter.
I currently hold 304 shares of Manulife, and at the current share price at the time of writing of $26.62 and the new dividend of 28cents I will be able to DRIP 3 shares a quarter instead of 2 a quarter. My annual dividend income from Manulife based on the 3cent raise means another $9.12/quarter and $36.48 a year, not including newly DRIP'd shares!

Now for a full year, I have mixed feelings how it went investing wise. In a whole year I would hope to have raised my monthly income comparing the same month a year later by more than $42.78. Part of the lower than liked increase is due to some higher expenses going on in my life, but also from the shifting around of the portfolio in general. The sell of Bell (BCE) which paid into that quarter, Enbridge income fund(ENF) being absorbed by parent company Enbridge (ENB), now paying out in a different Quarter rather than monthly.
The uptick is from the addition of monthly payers Cineplex (CGX), Plaza Reit (PLZ.UN) and the dividend ETF of XEI. As well as a good amount of DRIP's from Pizza Pizza and Algonquin. PLZ is now also DRIP'ing a share a month.

Recent Dividend Increases
Over the past few months a few of the companies that I follow and hold have raised their dividends. I am as always very happy to be the beneficiary of these free 'raises' for holding the stocks.
The following stocks raised their dividends: PPL, AQN, PZA, MFC

Recent Dividend Increases
In the past month quite a few of the companies that I hold, as well as a couple comparable sector companies have raised their dividends. And as more companies release their earnings I am looking forward to seeing some more dividend increases in the near future. The following companies in my portfolio gave me a raise in the last month: Toronto Dominion Bank (TD), National Bank of Canada (NA), Royal Bank of Canada (RY) and BCE (Bell Media). As well as Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CM) and Rogers Communications (RCI.B).

October 2014 Dividend Update!
October went by scarily fast, and with a few market scares to boot! And not to mention Halloween frights as well, like snow fall around midnight!!! The good news is that the dividends kept on coming in on schedule and as expected, if not better! My monthly payers keep my baseline income nice and high at around $30 every month, and this time my quarterly paying companies kicked in even more! I'v also benefited this month from having bought more shares of TD which paid out this month and dividend increases from AQN and BNS. My total dividend income this month is my highest yet, with $63.54 in dividend income! That's over double last months $29.59, and $6.28 more than the previous comparable month! That money is pretty much 6 hours of minimum wage work I did not have to do at all and it feels pretty good to see my passive income stream slowly growing.
Here's my full breakdown:

Recent Dividend Increases!
Dividend Increases! These two little words are exactly what I like to see from companies whose shares I own. They generally mean business is going very well and so the companies are willing and able to give back a bit more of their profits to investors! This month has been quite good for my portfolio, with three these three companies declaring dividend increases: Algonquin Power & Utilities (AQN), the Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS) and the Royal Bank of Canada (RY). It's just so nice to be getting paid more, even if it is just a few cents more for simply holding onto a quality company and looking forward to higher dividend payouts and hopefully more dividend increases in the future.
Here is a breakdown of the dividend increases and how they are affecting my portfolio.
Algonquin Power & Utilities (AQN):
CDN$.085 to US$.0875 or ~CDN$.0955, an increase of 12.4%, dividend yield of 4.22%

So since I'v only recently started this blog and also having only really gotten my portfolio going since January I shall do one 'big' month by month catch-up post on my dividend income thus far. Going forward I'll do a monthly posting. I know its one of the aspects of my portfolio that I look forward to during and at the end of the month to see how much money iv made not working! On other blogs as well I always love seeing how people's portfolios have grown in income from the previous year.
