February 2016: Dividend Update!

As 2016 continues on, February has already passed us. Even with the extra day afforded to us from having a leap year! With the extra day or not, my dividends have steadily kept on coming in. Even better they continue to grow at a steady pace (for the most part).
February was another great month of dividends for me. Once again getting over $100 in dividend income, and progressively pulling ahead of the previous comparable months dividend income by $8.76. Also a huge improvement from February 2014, where that months dividends were $44.89.

My monthly paying companies continue to be the foundation of my passive income stream. They help to even out my monthly income, and generally provide a high dividend yield to full my new stock purchases. While quarterly payers, in this case the two banks NA and RY continue to give nice boosts to the months income, and have been steadily increasing their payouts.

For next month, I am looking forward to seeing increased income from PPL, as I recently purchased more shares. In the next month or so though D.UN will be bringing in less as due to some recent company changes, the monthly payout has been cut to $.125, from the current $.1867. On the plus side the stock gained about 27% in the last month, so the income I lost from the dividend cut, has been more than gained in stock value.

Already this year I have collected $336.76 in dividend income, that is equal to about 30 hours of minimum wage work, not bad!

  1. Hi Dividend Wisp,

Love your RY holdings! That's an amazing stock to own and I should start a position as well.
Nice progress and thanks for sharing.

    Best wishes, DfS

    1. Hello DfS, thank you for stopping by! The bank stocks are definitely part of my core holdings and I like how each of the big three(RY, TD, BNS) that I hold have different characteristics, but all share the same great quality of raising their dividends!

    1. Thanks! So far so good on the YoY growth, I'm sure it will eventually start to slow down, although I hope it never does! :)

  6. Dividend income of over $100 a month is great. A great 100% increase from last year!.
Having just started investing for dividends, I know the feeling when dividends hit your account. It sure is great to see money coming in then going out via bills!

    1. Definitely! It takes a bit of time to get the proverbial dividend income rolling, but once it does it is pretty awesome! Last year I was super happy to be getting $50. And totally agree, I love seeing my BCE(BELL) dividend every quarter slowly catching up to fully covering my phone bill!
